TVK Shipyard was founded in 2005 by Can Topsakal and Naim Kocer, two entrepreneurs, and Turgut Atagun, one of the leading naval architect in shipbuilding.
The Company is located in Izmit Kocaeli Free Zone, at 120 km from Istanbul
In July 2008, the world’s largest private equity frm, The Carlyle Group acquired a 50% stake in TVK - TVK’s new facilities, strong management team and distinct know-how in the construction of chemical tankers were the main reasons behind Carlyle’s decision to partner with TVK’s founding shareholders
TVK is a well organized and fully experienced shipyard focused on the construction of small sized specialized vessels such as sophisticated chemical tankers (upto 30,000 dwt) for well known and reputable European and Middle Eastern operators
TVK is also capable of constructing supply vessels, small to medium sized Ro-Ro ships as well as bulk carriers and containerships. In addition, the Company is prepared to provide upgrading and expansion services to ship-owners worldwide
